Park Hyatt Chicago is launching a new and innovative green effort called the Tree Planting Amenity Program. In lieu of traditional amenity, selected guests are presented with a personalized Tree Planting Certificate crafted from 100% recycled paper. The certificate will indicate that a donation has been made in their name to the Targeted Tree Planting Program of Chicago. Trees will be planted in public parks, schools, and neighborhood streets or on historic boulevards indentified by the city.

The Art Institute of Chicago’s new modern wing ensures a truly green exhibit experience. The modern wing includes light filtration systems in the form of a flying carpet to provide natural light for the exhibit. Double curtainwall construction saves energy and insulates the gallery. Landscaping around the modern wing has increased by 21%. Debris from this new addition has been recycled and the exhibit uses half of the energy that the existing building uses. This institute also participates in the Chicago Green Museum initiative.
